Living Beyond the Silence
When I first emerged on the literary scene in 2011, I quickly learned that there were opportunist hidden around every corner. People that were watching you; some hoping that you would fail...and others hoping that you wouldn't so that they could hang on to your coat tails and obtain the recognition that they thought were due.
I have also met some wonderful people; people that were amazing...people that lifted you up when you needed that reassurance that you were making a difference in this world. My friend, Sharon R. Wells-Simonson is one of those people. I first met Sharon when I reviewed her first book, "Without Permission." In this book, she told the tale of survival of sexual abuse and how it impacted her life. Like me, she is a survivor wanting to make a difference in this world.
When she asked me to be a contributor to her latest work, I was honored. In Living Beyond the Silence, she allows other survivors to tell their stories. In this work, the veil is parted and you as the reader are allowed to peer inside the world of a sexual abuse victim.
Living Beyond the Silence is a powerful tool that will help victims come to terms with their past while moving courageously and powerfully into their future. We can't always control the things that happen to us, but we can control how we allow those events to direct the course of our lives.
Truer words were never spoken. I take my hat off to Mrs Wells-Simonson for giving a voice to the voiceless as well as shining a much needed light on the forgotten.
Living Beyond the Silence by Sharon R Wells-Simonson.
